1) Certificate authorising Sale by the Commissioners of HM's Woods, Forests and Land Revenues to William Bodger Water Corn Mill called Port Mill, near the River Hiz on the north side of Mill Lane within the Lordship or Manor of Hitchin The scite of the Mill (11P) AND Slip of garden ground (33P), lying opposite to the Mill (occupied by John Ranson and marked on a plan in the original deed and all pools, ponds, fisheries and fishings as well as Houses etc Reserved to His Majesty the use of the Stream and water of River Hiz but doing no prejudice to the Port Mill (details of Leases by the Crown 1785 onwards). It was auctioned on 23 December 1813 24 March 1814 Abstract prepared by Carter of Staple Inn Consideration £2020 paid by Bodger to the Crown
