Memorial card inscribed: In affectionate and loving remembrance of George Hammond, who died July 18th 1917, aged, 56 years. Explanatory note, written much later, states: George Hammond was the father of Wilfred Hammond. He died of peritonitis just five weeks after Wilf was killed in action.
