(Purchaser) recites will Most Hon John Crichton Stuart, Marquis of Bute (died 18 Mar 1848) to Lord James Stuart Onesiphorus Tyndall Bruce & James Munro Macnabb as Trustees freehold estates in Beds. Made 22 July 1847, proved P.C.C. 19 April 1848. Macnabb retired. Bruce dead. Charles appt Trustee but he went abroad by Appointments of new Trustees of 29 Ap 1852 & 27 Sept 1855 & 9 Jan 1859. Boyle & William Stuart were appt. to act with Lord James Stuart. Reinforced by Order in Chancery of 29 Jan 1859 but Lord James Stuart dies 7 Sept 1859. Appt of Charles Stuart 8 Mar 1860. Above Trustees hold auction on 26 June 1862 lots 13 & 14, piece of arable land near town of Luton In Hamlet of West Hyde pt of Brown Brick Field abs at one end gardens & premises of Matthew Wilson & others fronting on proposed New Road adj at other end land formerly of Trustees of Marquis of Bute now of James Hopkins (see LHE 243) & at the rear on Meadow land of John Shaw Leigh next the Brache there (124P) Marked on Plan in margin with full right of way along new proposed road into & out of public highway Luton to Hatfield & into Langley Road Consideration £315. 2 Feb 1863
