    Sorry to hear that mother has been ill with bronchitis. Mrs Gilbert found constant prayer the best thing to help her in these trying times. Sad about Mrs Fossey and her daughter sends £1 'which will you kindly use in whatever way you think best for Mrs Fossey'. Has been ill since January 'I am rather better now, but still only allowed to get up part of the day...I think it helps to make one even if possible more miserable about this grievous war - when will it ever end and the longed-for Peace be established! We have 9 nephews in the Forces, and anxious about the one in Burma. He has done very well, but latterly of course no news...'
