Message reads: "Dear Lizzie, I was very please to see such a nice letter from you I think your dad might have come here with you as you both had a holiday together you would have had a nice time down here the soldiers are here every day with there bagpipiers and finery [?] all out the back grand mother can see them up Greens fields and the back windows. Tell grandmother this is Windmill Rd where I go with my truck in the summer hope you are all well as we are Willie is learning to knit so he can make a scarf for the soldiers uncle Jim went to list but was to old just amused aunt Lavia there are 6 gone from here. The soldiers gave grandfather a pot of jam. With love to all from aunt Jane xxxx."
