    As by inquisition held before the late escheator, Peter Grey esquire, on the death of Daniel Payne late of Podington, yeoman, it appeared that the said Daniel Payne was seised in demesne as of fee of annual rent of 2s. from lands formerly of John Faldo in Podington, late parcel of the possessions of Canons Ashby Priory; and of Podington rectory, tithes and advowson; these descend to William Payne, son and heir of Daniel Payne; all being held in chief by service of 1/40 knight’s fee and by rent of 17s. The said William Payne is of age and has paid the appropriate dues to the court of wards & liveries.
