- Scope and Contentto Mademoiselle Milnes, Firenze [Florence]. Have been very gay this summer. Went last Thursday to a Huntingdon Ball with Hester, who was so fortunate as not to sit down one dance the whole of the evening. General Onslow a Steward. Very genteel. Miss N. Palmer there, as good natured and as lively as ever. Death of Duchess of Rutland. Our friend Mr Dawson taken ill in the same way by attending to his work people in Clapham. You have been gone so long I would hardly know your youngest sister and brothers. Dowager Lady Welby has been very ill. we have not seen Mr and Mrs Northmore yet. Hugh and Sophia [Wade-Gery] at Hatley [St George - see GY11/195]. the roads are so bad at Hatley as it prevents our meeting in winter so often as we could wish.
