Scope and Content
Vandyke Sand Lime Bricks Limited, Laton Road, Hastings, East Sussex, formed on 13th May 1935 and incorporated on 20th May 1935. The Company was owned by Arthur Blackman and Isabel Amy Ladden, both of ‘Stonehenge’, Laton Road, Hastings. They changed the name of the Company by Special Resolution on 31st December 1935 to Stonehenge Bricks Limited.
Situated at Vandyke Road and Mile Tree Road, Leighton Buzzard. Produced calcium silicate facing bricks in white and colours. Employed about 150 men.
Subsidiary company Driroof Tiles Limited formed in 1949, works adjacent to Stonehenge Bricks Limited.
Purchased Blackman, Pavie & Ladden Limited, coal & coke factors, Hastings in 1964.
