- Scope and ContentThis Committee began in May 1903 "To exercise the power and duties of the Council as the Local Supervising Authority under the Midwives Act, 1902" and was called the Midwives Act (Executive) Committee. By 1917 the committee was called "Notification of Births and Midwives' Acts (Executive) Committee" and was charged "to exercise the powers and duties of the Council under the Notification of Births (Extension) Act, 1915, and under the Midwives Act, 1902". This Committee in later years dealt with most statutes affecting the health and nutrition of children and expectant mothers. After 1947 most functions went to the Health Committee [HE].
