- Scope and ContentExecution of Grantham's orders. Second volume of prints, after the Duke of Devonshire's drawings of Claude Lorrain; finished a month ago, immediately sent to Mr. Minx [?Mengs], also the first volume and the 'Ionian Antiquities'. Mr. Crowle, who succeeded Grantham as Secretary to Society, gave Reynolds the latter. Great increase in members, new room built for members, Reynolds currently drawing pictures for two ends of room. In one appear Sir William Hamilton, Sir Watkins Williams, Mr. Smith, Mr. Taylor, Mr. Thomson & Mr. Gullway. In the other are Lord Carmarthen, Lord Seaforth, Lord Mulgrave, Mr. Greville, Mr. Dundass, Mr. Banks and Mr. Crowles. "Employed according to intent of the Society in Drinking and Virtue". Compliments Grantham's nephew and niece. Mr. Parker has written to Reynolds and sent a side of venison.
