Letter from the Privy Council, signed by Abp. Laud and 6 others, to the Earl of Cleveland, Lord Lieutenant of Beds., and in his absence to the Deputy Lieutenants; they understand that in some places there have been difficulties in putting in readiness the trained bands through misapprehension concerning the defraying of charges; not only custom but the law of nature require that in time of invasion every man ought to serve in the common defence at his own charge; by reason of the invasion of the Scottish rebels with so great an army the whole Kingdome may soon be overrun.
