Scope and Content
'That on Wednesday afternoon the twenty third of April I was ordered by my Master to go to Furzen Hall Farm to bring some Wheat belonging to Mr Willis. I went accordingly and brought away sixteen sacks - Whilst putting them up Thomas Holland who was in the barn pointed out to me three sacks containing Wheat which had been dress'd for some time telling me at the same time that one sack of Wheat had been stolen the night before - These three sacks I carried with the remainder of the Wheat to Biggleswade and deposited it in Mr Pope's Corn chamber and immediately made a mark with chalk on one of the three sacks. The three sacks have ever since been and still are exactly in the same spot as where I first placed them - the sample which I now produce I have this moment taken out of the sack which I mark'd and can swear that it is the same Wheat as I brought from Furzen Hall Farm.'
Signed with the mark of Thomas Simms.
