Counterpart assignment re lease: (1) William Denton of St Pauls, Covent Garden, Middlesex, doctor of physic, Alexander Denton of Middle Temple, London, John Smith of Akeley, Buckinghamshire, gentleman, and Robert Townsend of Ratcliffe, Buckinghamshire, D.D. (2) Mayor, bailiff etc of Bedford. Reciting lease by Robert Townsend as Prebendary of Bedford to Denton and Smith of the Lesse Prebend of the Chapel of the Herne for lives of Thomas Denton, Alexander and Robert, sons of Robert Townsend, on 25 March 1637: messuage called the Chapel of Herne commonly used as a place of judicature by the justices itinerant in Bedfordshire and lands in Bedford and Biddenham (described) amounting to 107 acres from Lady Day 1662 for 102 years and a week at £55 a year rent, and 8 shillings for the chapel.
