- Scope and ContentFarley, to Mademoiselle Milnes, Pau. Likes Farley. Aunt [Mary] Grubbe has been spending some time here, to instruct me in housekeeping. We are about 5 miles from Sarum [Salisbury]. James is Warden of a hospital founded by Sir Stephen Fox, with description. Is also curate of Mr. Strangeways churches, who would make a nice little match for Fanny Grubbe. Fanny has measles, Ann is gone into the principality. John is at York in America, not so Army mad as when he first embarked in his profession. Is buried in woods and wilds with nothing but a bear to play with. Tom and Eliz. at present living with my Aunt in Norfolk Cresent, but will shortly remove to Eastwell [Potterne, Wilts]. Have not heard from the Gerys for some time. Gr[e]antham lady very well. Hugh and Sophia [Wade-Gery] still at Bushmead. Papa [Rev Thomas Milnes] has been free from his usual complaint.
