West Burton, nr. Bedale [to W.H.W-G at Beckingham, nr. Newark] Though prepared in some degree, your kind notice overwhelmed me with shock. Sent off to order horses for 6 o'clock this morning, to bring me to Beckingham to pay last sad tribute to my poor dear Brother [John Milnes, died 1833] but was taken unwell. Sends condolences to dear nieces and nephews. Glad you, Dr. Chawner and Mr. Brown with family. Would like to see niece and her babe. Fear poor Catherine and Capt. Raynes were too distant to reach Beckingham. (This is not deposited at the Record Office - for information only.)
