- Scope and ContentUpper Seymour St. [Miss Gery, Bushmead Priory] Thank you for your two letters. Meant to reply at Denton, but melancholy situation in which we found my poor grandfather [William Welby] distracted me. Am preparing mourning. Aunt Monoux very indifferent. Spend remainder of summer in Isle of Wight. Lord Brownlow has procured us lodgings at Cowes. Pray hasten your marriage dear Hetty and follow me there. My brother [William Earle Welby] is likely to be a near neighbour of yours, my grandfather having presented him with Mr Pocklingtons (which he purchased ready furnished) at Carlton near Newark. My Complaint continues much the same. My little Boy [Thomas Welby Northmore] is very hearty and well. We are this week endeavouring to wean him and as he seems to have as good a Beef Stomach as his mother I dont doubt we shall succeed very well. Parker is at Denton.
