  • Scope and Content
Possibly from Elizabeth Mary Jones, wife of the Rev. William Jones, pastor of Harrold Congregational church, c. 1875-1885. Written at 11 Argyle Square, London. [mourning paper] Dear Mrs. Sanders, We reached home quite safely and very pleased they all are to have us once again, I am sure it seems so natural to be here again. The wedding went off so pleasantly, and Henrietta went off in very fair spirits. They went to Matlock and today they go to their own home near Chesterfield. I was busy on Tuesday; we got home by 12 o’clock in the afternoon went and bought them a present, and in the evening I helped prepare for Wednesday. Sixteen of us went to Chapel and 19 at Breakfast. Quite enough, I can assure you. We are settling down now; glad it is all over. On Friday we go to Wrexham. I do not think I shall go to Walthamstow, for it seems so little time at home. I do not care for running off. Ma says Polly may come home to Harrold with me; I shall do my best to bring her, for she is not well at all. I hope you are having a pleasant time with your brother. Give him my kind regards and kiss the dear baby for me. Mr. Jones[?] has gone off to his old amusement studying at Dr. Williams’s Library. I wish he would leave the books alone a little while. I wrote a few lines to Mrs. Wykes this morning. I called on Katie Claridge on Monday last; all things seemed so ‘comfortable’ [remainder of letter missing]
