  • Scope and Content
Written at Ramsey [Huntingtonshire] [thin mourning border]. ...I do not think I have written since I received the grocery[?]; all came much better this time, but the Cheese and Mustard are not put in. Please let me have a bill. I am expecting to hear from Miss Bell. Do not keep her too long; I mean so that it will shorter her stay with me for I do count of her coming and then soon after Annie I hope will. How about yourself; is it to be Xmas for you[?]? May Lizzie was very pleased with the book. She has been at home two days with such a rash but feels quite well. Baby cut his first tooth last night, is 7 months tomorrow. We had the Bible Meeting on Monday night and on Tuesday a capital meeting at Mr. Sanky’s chapel, the anniversary of his settlement. I did wish you could all have been there. Mr. Millard of Huntington and also our own[?] little[?] Pastor spoke well. Mr. Bloomfield[?] of Gloucester[?] preached in the afternoon. We did not go till evening; it was crowded. M.L. [Mary Lizzie] and Rosa have their Michaelmas holiday next week as Mrs. Jones’ daughter is to be married. A Liberation Society lecture is to take place tonight, Mr.Harvey[?] Saunders[?] in the chair. The Wesleyans had services every day last week. Hugh went to several at least. They had three a day, so you see there is some life at Ramsey even[?]. How do you get on for apples? We have just used all we had sent us. Thank you for the Yarmouth paste, also the walnuts; we had half a Bushel from one of our friends-- but Hugh is fond of them. Now you will be sure and let me hear from and of you soon-- as I shall have a wash[?] on Monday if Miss Bell is not here; that is the only particular reason I want to know a day or two before she comes and I must let the women[?] know too-- but do not alter her plans. I can do either with or without washing one week will not make much difference. Accept much love all of you and Believe me ever Your loving sis....
