  • Scope and Content
Upper Clapton. [Mrs. W.G., Bushmead Priory] About visit paid. We then sent to Allington. Montague looked well. I visited my sisters Eleanor and Eliza at? Spondon, returning by Derby, Northampton, St. Albans to London, now a much better road to travel than the old North one for accommodation as I found no want of horses and the Inns well kept... one of the Drivers who had the day before conveyed the Duchess of S(o)utherland told them there was no doubt but the posting business will be again revived. You may easily believe what joy to my cowardly heart such news was, and I think not less to yours, As I hope after these Iast two fatal accidents [appears from context to refer to railway accidents] you will no longer venture your life to such fragile chances, particularly as every year it will be more dangerous all things having been built by contract, that (?) along endangers the case.
