- Scope and ContentDenton [to Miss H. Gery, Bushmead Priory]. Many thanks for your last epistle. Congratulations on approaching nuptials. Mr. [Hugh] Wade [-Gery] is universally esteemd a worthy Man, and with a character so respectable, there is certainly the fairest prospect of happiness. Mr. and Mrs. C. Gery dined here yesterday. I imagine the latter sends you all the news of Grantham. Going to be three weddings there this month: Doctor Bilby & Miss D.....; Doctor Dodsworth and Miss Dye Stevens; Mr. Cables the apothycary and Miss Lyddiard the innkeeper's daughter. Living of Grantham. Mr. Ward at present unsettled. Gift of morocco thread and needle case. Thank you for your account of St. Neots Ball, and of dresses you and your sisters wore. Mr. William Welby lost without Mr. Martin. Mr [William Earle] Welby [b1768] to marry Miss [Wilhelmina] Spry. Have received a letter from my sister [Mary] De Butts who has had a son. Doctor [Samuel] De Butts added a postscript. Seem tired of America. My sister's account of that country would never induce any person to go there. Don't know when I'll be able to return to Welbourn, though I've been here 3 months. Mr. Welby is surprised well. Concerned at the accounts we receive of poor Mrs Northmore. Expect to hear of her death in any letter from London. Duty to my aunt. Please present respects to Miss Garden. (This is not deposited at the Record Office - for information only.)
