-- messuage and 2 strips of land in a croft adjoining in Church End, Tempsford; abutting West on the king’s highway and East on the causeway (calcetum) called the Downwey; next the land formerly of Edward Scott Esquire and the messuage and land of Hugh Stanle, formerly Robert Berd;
which they had by feoffment of John Fyssher of Tempsford 26 July 1488; on condition that William Slade pays to John Fyssher, chaplain, and Richard Fyssher of Thurleigh £8, to wit 26/8 at Christmas, then 13/4 at each succeeding Michaelmas till the whole be paid.
