Written at Draughton Lodge [Draughton, Northamptonshire]. …Having a cold in my head I am not much in a writing mood but I thought you would be expecting some sort of a reply to yours—much as I should love to come and see you for a day or two I do not see my way clear to do so just at present; next week will be quite a busy week. I must have a woman two days to wash and scour etc. etc. The week after Mr. Burn is coming, so you see how I am fixed. I hear Mrs. Sanders of Odell is about Mary at Orton Lodge [sic]. I don’t know if it’s settled. I should think she will suit very nicely. So your expecting Mr. and Mrs. Daniels; I hope she is a lady you will like. I expect that you know we have had Mr. and Mrs. Norman to [torn away] they came [remainder of side 3 torn and missing] [side 4] how are you off for apples?
