  • Scope and Content
‘Monday, 1/2 past 2 o’clock’. … I think I must just send you a few lines by Mr. Deane who is now soon leaving us; the boy is going to drive him to Kettering. We have enjoyed his company very much and also his preaching yesterday. Your Uncle Bob [Rob?] has been down this morning and spent an hour with us; poor Annie is in a miserable way. I think Mrs. Hoyle now fails to make her cheerful and happy. I hope you will take care of your dear self. I shall be very pleased to see your cheeks as they used to look. Be sure feed your baby twice and soon get to three times. Mr. and Mrs. Hafford spoke very kindly to me yesterday. Mr. Deane came home with us to dinner. I did not go at night, of course. I found my housekeeper and servant all ready to receive me and the house in very decent order. I suppose Mrs. S. has made up her mind to leave me on Saturday; we have not talked it over yet but I shall not wish her to stay if she prefers leaving. I have not time to say more. With kind love to Hugh and your dear self and some loving kisses to your dear boy, believe me Your affectionate Mamma….
