    Cannot begin John's picture at present as has lost letter containing dimensions and is not yet acquainted with sort of subject required. Painted 2 pictures during summer and autumn, a group of children picking hops, "and a large one of prawn fishers for the King". Intends former for Exhibition, and latter for lodge at Windsor, "where I had the honour of an interview which was, I assure you, one of the most gratifying circumstances of my professional career". Late panic among monied men has not yet had any effect on Arts, "and the flourishing state of the National Gallery is highly gratifying to all lovers of painting." Mentions their purchase of a Titian, a Poussin, a Cavalli and presentation of the Beaumont collection. Is now engaged on painting of a fisherman leaving his home for the night which is to be sent to Somerset House (D.N.B. COLLINS, Wm. (1788-1847) landscape, portrait and figure painter, exhibited, 1807-46; also etched; his paintings very popular and many of them engraved; R.A. 1820)
