    Hopes John arrived safely in London. "I dare say you enjoy that variety, which the immense assemblage of houses & human beings, where you now are and the vast number of devices and exhibitions which they strike out, to amuse, and to prey on, each other, presents to you .. " Discusses weather "The Country is a continued Quagmire." Saw Mrs Humphrey yesterday afternoon and she and her family were well. Recommends Mr Gisborne's poem "Walk in a Forest". "Mr Burke's lately published letter to Anth.Young, (on the case of labourers in husbandry, I think) will be read very generally on account of the celebrity of the writer; it is a small thing. " Also recommends elegant printing of Dr. Armstong's poem on "Health" and Dr. Akenside's poem on "The pleasues of the Imagination"
