- Scope and Content - Recieved John's letter from Arundel yesterday. Not surprised  at his partiality for scenery of Weston. " Which has, besides habit, many intrinsic beauties to recommend it; you may travel far, and not find many places to excell it". Gives further description of sea side at Weston. Expects John at Portsmouth by this time and seeing, "a great naval force; which I hope will not be obliged to exert itself against the Abbey. Recommends visit to British Museum, Poets Gallery and Hobbinal & Ganderetta" by Mr Gainsborough, "The subject, tho' not warm and agitating is yet soft and interesting, & the execution, I believe, is admirable"
