    Conveyance (Lease and Release): (1) The Rev John King Martyn, Pertenhall, Bedfordshire, clerk, and wife Emma, late Emma Macaulay, spinster, Ann Macaulay, Catherine Macaulay, Maria Macaulay and Clara Macaulay, all of Guildford, Surrey, spinsters (the said Emma, Ann, Catherine, Maria and Clara being the five daughters and only children of George Mackenzie Macaulay, esquire, late alderman of London, deceased, by Ann his wife, also deceased, who was the only daughter of William Theed, late of Bedford, esquire, deceased, (heretofore called William Theed junior) by Ann his wife, also deceased, formerly Ann Pearson, spinster) (2) John Mayle, Bedford, draper (3) Alexander Forbes Gaskell, Grays Inn, Middlesex, gentleman (4) William Smith, Bedford, grazier. Conveyance to (2) for £650, all that messuage or tenement with the appurtenances on the West of the High Street in Bedford St Paul, formerly two messuages in occupation of John Howard and Charles Jones, late in occupation of Thomas Kilpin and now of John Maye [?Mayle], bounded: North - by messuage formerly in occupation of John Yarnton and now of one Bassett; South - by messuage formerly of Samuel Warner and now of one Carter. Covenants to make further assurances on title.

    Reciting BorBE 11/17/1 and that William Theed junior had by Ann three children: William Theed, Pearson Theed and Ann Theed, and that Ann the wife died in September 1763: that Pearson Theed died June 1782 in the life time of his father without male issue but leaving one daughter, Sarah Theed, who afterwards intermarried with John King Martyn and is now deceased; reciting that Ann Theed the daughter married George Mackenzie Macaulay and died November 1788 in the life time of her father, leaving 5 daughters only: that William Theed died July 1796 leaving William Theed his eldest son surviving him who died intestate and a bachelor January 1800, when the premises became vested in Emma Martyn and the Macaulay [sisters]. Reciting that (2) has contracted for the purchase of the premises below for £650.
