Extract from Statement of Edward Marcus Price: "My father John Price had a life interest in two small shops or dwellings connected by a piece of ground at the back, one fronting the main or high street the other fronting the Fish Market, Bedford. He sold his life interest to a person named Lane, a pipemaker who resold it to the Corporation of Bedford. At my father's death my brother, Sidney Price, became intitled to the property but he died in 1850 without having obtained possession of it. I am the next heir, but having been in California I have had no opportunity of seeing after it. All necessary certificates of deaths etc can be produced. During my father's lifetime my brother and I went to Bedford at his request to see the property, and found that Lane had left the country and had sold his life interest to the Corporation who had taken down both buildings for a rail-road."
