    Recites: - Lease and release dated 28 & 29 Sept 1837 between 1) Joshua Malden, gent., Hannnah Malden, widow and John Ryland, draper, 2) Joseph Margetts Pierson the younger of Hitchin, merchant and William Pope, cornfactor. In consideration of £3000 paid by 2) to 1), 1) sold to 2) messuage sometime since erected and lately occupied by Jno Croft on the westward side of Shortmead Street, coal yard or wharf and garden to the said messuage adjoining with all warehouses, granaries, counting houses, storehouses and buildings, which said coal yard etc and the site of messuage comprising the sites of certain cottages formerly occupied by Giles Smith, William Farrington, Henry Binnington, and William Brown and then lately pulled down by Jno Croft, also a piece of ground theretofore a close of pasture adjoining and the cartilage belonging to another cottage late of Jno Croft and formerly Jno Ellson bounded West by the river, North by land late Samuel Wells and now William Hogg and Robert Lindsell, part East by Shortmead Street, part East and North by ground late Jno Croft and now William Edwards, South buildings formerly Jno Croft and then late Daniel Malden and Caleb Malden. Recites wills and deaths of Daniel and Caleb Malden. - Lease and release dated 3 & 4 Oct 1837 the later between 1) Richard March of Offley, Herts, famer, eldest son of Richard Marsh of Kilburn, Middlesex, gent and Ann his wife both deceased, of which Ann was the only child and heir at law of Daniel Chapman late of Hitching, merchant, deceased, 2) J M Pierson & William Pope, 3) William Race. Recites admission of D Chapman on 30 April 1 May 1805 and enfranchisement of 2 & 3 Dec 1811. Purchased with joint monies of D Chapman, Jno Croft and J M Pierson who carried on business in copartnership but conveyed to D Chapman alone. By lease and release 19 & 20 May 1814 D Chapman and J M Pierson conveyed their parts to J Croft. By lease and release of 19 & 20 Aug 1818 D Chapman conveyed remaining part to Jno Croft. Since then the property had come to J M Pierson and William Pope but doubts had arisen and therefore Richard Marsh as heir at law to D Chapman executed conveyance of the premises to J M Pierson and William Pope. - Mortgage of 5 Oct 1839 between 1) J M Pierson and William Pope, 2) Hannah Malden, Joshua Malden and Jno Ryland for £2000 lent by 2) to 1). Endorsed paid off 2 April 1851. - Indenture 10 Jan 1843 1) Joseph Margetts Pierson of Hitchin, merchant, 2) William Pope. J M Pierson and William Pope had carried on business in copartnership but such partnership had lately been dissolved and 1) agreed to sell to 2) for £1250 (less £1000 being J M Pierson’s share of outstanding mortgage) his share of messuage, coal wharf etc.
