Grant: William Redeknap, citizen and mercer of London. Recites Grant, dated 31 Jan 1452/3, by William Chychele of Bedford, spicer, to said William Redeknap, of all his estate and term in a meadow and 5 acres of land dispersed in the Fields of Bedford; for a term specified in the said Grant which meadow and land the said William Chychele had of the grant of William Hall (master of the said Hospital) for term of 30 years, as in a Deed dated 8 Jan 1449/50. By the present Deed William Redeknap mortgages for £10 to the said William Hall his estate and term in the property.

Whereof the meadow called Portmede lies between the land of the Hospital of St John Baptist of Bedford and that of the Abbot of Wardon, and extends from the King's highway to a close called Great Portmede; and the 5 acres lie together on Pydecroft between the land of the said Hospital and that of William Bartlot, one head abutting on the common way on East, and the other on the land of Bayens (sic) and of John Arthur.
