Also includes various memoranda etc., as follows At beginning: Notes on the keeping of the Register from 1661 by Richard Sam, the vicar; Note [in latin] on the origin of the name Sawford or Salford, c.1661; Note that during the "interreigne when that grand rebell Oliver Crumwell usurped the government" the register was kept by Thomas Barret of Sawford who was chosen by the inhabitants to be "their Parish Register" and approved by Sir St. John Chernocke, Bart., J.P, on 23 October 1653 At end of burial entries; "Memorandum. From ye 26th of June 1704, I was orderd by ye Archdeacon to registr Marriages Christnings & buriells in ye same leaf..." At end: Extract from the will of Dr. Woodward concerning his Charity for the Poor of the parish of Salford, 1675
