- Scope and Content‘Re. £500 loan from your trustees. Referring to our correspondence of about a month ago, I now send you for signature by yourself, mother and Katie a request and undertaking, addressed to Mr G H Brooks as the surviving trustee of your Settlement, to advance to you £500 out of the Trust Funds on the security of a joint and several promissory not to be signed by you all for that amount. Would you kindly return these two documents signed in exchange for which I send you the promissory note dated 5th March 1889 for £500 which I gave to the Trustee of your Settlement, and which has now been endorsed over to you personally for you to hold. As arranged I also enclose my cheque for £100.8.0 (being £100 in part discharge of my promissory note, and if the accrued interest thereon at £5 per cent down to date since 5th of September last). The balance of £400 due on my promissory note will be paid you as you may require it, in the course of next Spring if you will kindly give me ample notice.’
