  • Scope and Content
Reads- Malins has declined Ridgmont. I will now enquire if Long will take the whole farm - no one else in view, as you don't approve Ladds. Gudgin anxious to hear. I let Poole's farm yesterday to a young man son of Kendall of Odell, intelligent & active, has married a young woman in favour with Lady Eliz. Percival; had to reduce rent further; better than having farms untenanted which only helps to make the country think worse of an unlucky farm; but if the present price of wheat remains (4/6 - 5/6 bush.) the consequences will be lamentable, as the farmers must come to a standstill. Sharman told me Sam.Whitbread yesterday made him a proposition relative to county election, to which he acceded; I am very glad dispute over.
