- TitleLetter mainly regarding Swansborough and Crawley mill and an account of men at work
- Date free text17 Nov 1830
- Production dateFrom: 1830 To: 1830
- Scope and ContentReads- Swanborough need not come about puddling the banks of the lower brook at Crawley - his sketch is plain. Tween expected back. All quiet here; we have a watchman. The farmers round have done nothing & I believe intend to do nothing. Bennett goes with me next week to Crawley vestry. Account of men at work: Woburn 68 men 35 boys Crawley 57 30 Ridgmont 49 21 Eversholt 34 18 Lidlington 5 5 Wavendon 13 2 Milton 6 6 Steppingley 5 2 Flitwick 7 4 Maulden 9 I think there are 20 at Ridgmont, 25 at Crawley, & more at Eversholt unemployed, on the roads or digging sand. The farmers do anything but help; as fast as we take on, they discharge.
