    William Wilson, 22 or 23, son of Richard Wilson, husbandman of Stanford, now deceased was legally settled in Southill. When he was about 10 or 11 "he was taken out of the Townhouse by Mr. Dilley out of Motives of humanity and respect". The latter kept him for nearly three years, then Wilson worked for a Cardington farmer , Mr Cowland, for one year, as a servant in husbandry At least he contracted to do so, but left early on Mr. Dilley's persuasion, and was recommened by him to William Bogdani of Hitchin to work as a menial servant. He worked there a year and a quarter and then went to sea
