£7 ton, to be stacked here & shaved & carted to Bedford at stated times at Duke's expense (cost of labour & carriage £4 2s. per ton); net profit £3 18s.2d. per ton. All this year's sold to Day of Bedford. More might be made by getting rid of it after peeling.
Have ordered Biggs' cottage to be tiled; other repairs at Chapman's & Coleman's cotts.
Woodmen have applied for usual allowance for attention to fame (Gregory, Chapman, Price, Cleaver: 7 gns. in all)
Have written to Atkinson about drawings for ironwork of cherry & fig houses. The men he sent are fixing pipes in hot wall, & then will proceed with peachhouse & vinery.
Boys drowned in pond above bridge in park (sons of Fooks of menagerie & Reddall of Froxfield) while bathing.
