Scope and Content
Regular business of the Vestry includes election of parish officers, passing accounts, rates and rating, etc.
Occasional business includes:
1844 Rating of Deadmasey wood
1846 Proposal to stop up part of a highway from Ballingdon Botton to Flamstead through Whipsnade (see also 1856)
1848 Altercation between Rector and parish clerk - vote of censure passed on the clerk, who later resigned
1853 Dispute regarding parish boundary between Eaton Bray and Whipsnade, resulting from Eaton Bray Inclosure
1856 Further consideration of highway proposal (c.f. 1846)
1857 Sinking parish well - completion of work begun in 1844
1859-60 Enlargement and restoration of church and other repairs (E.C.Hakewill, architect) with details of proposed work
1861 Inscription for notice re grant from Incorporated Church Building Society towards reseating the church, and on display of plans [see P87/2/4]
1867 Increase in Luton Union charges on the parish for the poor, and suggested compromise with Caddington
