- Scope and ContentArticles of Agreement Parties: (i) Joseph Spinage of Saint Paul, Covent Garden [Middlesex], mercer and Mary, his wife; (ii) John, Duke of Bedford Reciting: - lease and release by way of marriage settlement of 9-10 Jun 1737 (1) Mary Spinage (then Mary Elphick of Woburn, widow of Edward Elphick); (2) Joseph Spinage; (3) Francis Cook of Milton Bryan, gentleman and Virtue Savage of Woburn, spinster of a moiety of (a)-(b); - Rebecca Lamb was entitled to the other moiety of (a)-(b) and conveyed it to (ii) in R6/63/31/1-2 - (ii) had contracted with (i) to buy Mary Spinage's moiety of (a)-(b) Operative Part: - (i) agreed to convey (a)-(b) to (ii) within six months of Lamb Elphick becoming 21 or dying, for £170 Property: (a) corner house in Woburn "fronting E onto the road by the George Inn there" and N to Market Place or Market House in occupation of Thomas Darling and let at £7 per annum; (b) house fronting N towards Market House and adjoining E on (a) in occupation of Thomas Burbidge, let at £10 per annum and known as Coach & Horses (a)-(b) were copyhold of the Manor of Woburn Abbotts until enfranchised on 8 Apr 1734 to Mary Spinage Witnesses: - Samuel Davis; - John Sheffard; - Ambrose Reddall; - Richard Ward
