    Grant of an annuity 1) Robert Jefferies of Kimbolton, Hunts., yeoman 2) William Gery of Kimbolton Esq., and Rev. Hugh Wade Gery of Bushmead Priory in the County of Bedford, clerk Reciting that Eleanor Gery, widow, deceased, the late mother of William Gery, had by will dated 25 January 1796 made a bequest of £20 to be distributed among the poor of the parish of Little Staughton, and that William Gery was sole executor. Whereas William Gery considered it would be beneficial for the poor if the interest were to be appropriated to them annually, and offered to invest the said sum of £20 in the purchase of an annuity, which the present Minister and Churchwardens and Overseers of the Poor had agreed to accept, and William Gery has accordingly contracted with 1) for the purchase of an annual rentcharge of 20s. to be paid out of certain lands NOW Consideration £20 paid by William Gery to 1), 1) grants to 2) - an annuity of 20s. payable upon 3a. of arable land, being one piece lying together called Hales Croft in a field in Wilden called Smartick Field, bounded: :N. Little Smartick Field :S. Mich (?) brook :E and W. land of James Dyson Esq. Premises now in occupation of Henry Lovell Annuity to be paid on 25 December annually to Minister, Churchwardens and Overseers, to be distributed among the poor on 1st January - to such of the poor as 2) and their heirs shall deem the most proper objects of charity Endorsed: receipt by 1) for £20 Also endorsed: note of enrollment in the Central Office of the Supreme Court of Judicature on 21 January 1898, and certificate of Commissioner for Oaths etc. [attached in the affidavit of F.G.
