    COVENANT for the regulation of the commons between Jn. Franklin, Francis Cook, Henry Bates, John Tompkins, Joseph Cook, Chas. Ault, Jn. Carpenter, Thos. Carpenter, Robt. Bellgrove, Sarah Baldwin, Jn. Stevens, Jn. King and Joseph Sayell, Reciting that the commons of Heath and Reach have been overstocked, Agreement between parties that i) ancient cottage right to be 6 sheep, 2 cows and one follower ii) for each acre unenclosed arable, meadow or lammas ground one sheep to be kept iii) for 10 acres unenclosed ground as above 1 horse and 1 cow iv) Robert Bellgrove and any other person having closes lying in the open common fields, can keep them enclosed for their own use only until the common field in which each lies is wholly cleared. v) great cattle (horses, cows and bullocks) to be kept in the tilth field until 1st November, sheep untill 1st January. vi) no great cattle or sheep to be kept on the wheat field until the same is completely cleared, except for horses, which can be staked or ''Flitted'' for 14 days after the corn has been begun to be cut. vii) no great cattle to be turned into wheat field without a keeper, so that the beans can be protected viii) no great cattle to be turned into the Bean Field before it is wholly cleared. No sheep until 30th November, (nor into meadows until they are wholly cleared of hay). Horses are excepted, and they can be staked for 14 days after the 14 days in the Wheat Field. ix) lambs to be counted as sheep on 1st November each year. x) not more than ''one half couples'' to be kept on commons. xi) owners of great cattle can go with them out of the North Field over the Dean, or else along Upper Broadway xii) those wishing to let their commons can do so provided the horses are used for ploughing in Heath and Reach, the cows are milked in H. and R., and the sheep folded there. xiii) John Franklin, is to be provided with 17 sheep commons for the first year and 11 sheep commons for the remainder of the term at 6d each per annum. xiv) no hogs to be turned out unless ringed xv) sheep above each person's right to be disposed of xvi) the agreement to extend from 25th March last for 9 years xvii) Henry Bates, Jn. Tompkins, Thos. Carpenter, and John George (Shepherd) and Thomas Poney (Hayward) to be Tellers for the first year, and afterwards the Tellers to be elected by majority of parties. xviii) each breach of regulations (i), (ii), (xi), (xiv), and (xxi) to incur fine of 10/- xix) half this money to the Tellers, half to the use of the Poor of Heath and Reach, to be paid to the Chapelwardens, unless majority of parties think fit to dispose of money for the benefit of the Hayward to encourage him in Pounding stray cattle etc. xx) all parties to pay their share of costs of any suit at law arising from the agreement xxi) parties permitted to keep as many sheep as they wish on the Heath, provided that they are not driven to fold before the sun sets, or kept in the fold after 8 o'c. in the morning. Parties bind themselves to keep the regulations under a penalty of £10. signatures of seven.
