Title
AGREEMENT concerning the stocking of Billington Commons between Thos.
Coleman, Thos. Turnham, Wm. Buttfield, Geo. Fowler, Hen. Sayell,
Valentine Leach, Ric. Bird, Thos. Hickenbottom, John Paine, Zachary
Whitehead, Thos. Hull, Thos. Dell, Eliz. Horton senior and Mary
Abraham, inhabitants and landholders of the hamlet of Billington in
the parish of Leighton Buzzard.
AGREEMENT for regulation of Billington Commons for the next 12 years,
in general as in BO 1326 above, the dates new stile (i.e. 12th March
now 23rd etc.) except
v) sheep not to common in any field until 9 days after it has been
cleared, during which 9 days the great cattle are to be commoned,
except the field above the Colleck, which is to be 3 days, and
except Little Field, Grovebury Field, to be kept for great
cattle until 10th Oct., and Chapel Field to be kept until
25th November.
vi) Little Field to lie with Grovebury Field as far as the Ditch
leading from the Foot Bridge to the Meadow part of Grovebury
until 10th Oct. when in crop
xiv) no hogs or pigs to be permitted to enter the bean stubble until
a furlong together shall be Wholly cleared or the corn and
grain carried therefrom. No hogs or pigs to go unringed on
the common greens and other commonable places.
xxi) omitted
xxiii) and xxiv) Thos. Turnham instead of Wm. Colman.
xxv) George Fowler and Henry Sayell together with the common Hayward
to be Tellers for the first year.
xxvii) commoners to receive 5/- for unused common right.
William Buttfield shall lay out Ballards Fenn to the Common
and Commoners on 5th July yearly.
Tellers to forfeit 5/- for breach of regulations.
