  • Scope and Content
Dear Friend This is to certify you that through mercy we have escaped the perils of the deep and are safely harboured here - the account of our voyage I will leave until we have the pleasure of seeing you. My head is so swimmy and swingy that you must excuse a short epistle: the chief purport of which is to say that we enter upon lodging this afternoon at Mr Rolls, Royal Bazaar, which we have engaged for a fortnight - it consists of sitting room looking on the sea, and 3 bed rooms, one for me and my wife, one for the maid and child, and one at your service if you can conveniently bring Rhoda to meet us here: the bed which our maid occupies is large enough to hold another maid, if Rhoda should think right to bring one and a child, but I do not press this, as it would be more beneficial for her as well as myself to be as quiet as we can and free from care .. [endorsed: after dangerous voyage]
