  • Scope and Content
Receipts are given in the summary form as after 1656 in P64/12/1 above. Disbursements from 1691 show the weekly payments and casual disbursements totalled separately. From 1692-1713 signed receipts for the year's rent are included in the accounts. Lists of writings handed over to new Overseers discontinued after 1673, but new documents are still noted for some years. Lists of documents in the hands of the Overseers and in the chest occur between the accounts for 1689 and 1690, 1697 and 1698, and in 1714 (the last is a 6 page list). After 1700 Charity entries become sporadic in year accounts. The following items occur between the accounts for 1720-21: i) Bill for improvements to the Parish Clerk's House in Horselow Road, constructed by Richard Miller for £2 ii) Summary of the circumstances surrounding the purchase of land on 30 July 1699 from Jacob Harvey of London, Feltmaker, by the Feoffees of Potton for £220. This consisted of 24acres late in occ. of Ann Brittain, and 7½a. arable land and 2a. meadow once of Richard Barrat. £100 came from the will of John Snitch dated 16 October 1686 for putting out children as apprentices; £40 from John Burgoyne's Charity for the use of the poor; £10 from Thomas Bromsall, late of Blunham, for the use of the poor £10 from John Bromsall for the use of the poor; £10 from Edward Halfhyde to be employed by the Overseers for the poor; £10 from Thomas Halfhyde, son of Edward, now of Potton for use as above ii) £5 from William Spinks of Potton, draper, for use as above; £15 borrowed from Richard Lee, to be repaid out of the rents without interest; deficit £20. Lands let out to John Keeping, the present occupier, for twelve years, at an annual rent of £10 to be laid out by the Feoffees in proportion to the donations which went to make up the purchase money. iii) detailed accounts of Town Lands Money 1702 - 1711 iv) various accounts for children, families, and people in the care of the Overseers 1709 - 1724
