  • The Charity Commissioners' Reports (1815-39), p. 168, say that £15 "the amount of certain benefactions formerly given to the poor of the parish, was laid out with other money raised out of the poor rates, in the purchase of certain premises at Harrold, used as a parish workhouse"; and that 22 September 1761 these premises were conveyed to the Churchwardens and overseers in trust, in the first place to provide a yearly sum of 15s. for the poor, and in the next place to be used as a workhouse or habitation for the poor if the parishioners thought proper. Whether the deeds have to do with the above property does not appear.]
