Scope and Content
Viz:
to strip the old lead of the roof and provide a new oak roof using old timbers where practicable and cover with new lead;
to repair all defective stonework; to clean down the walls and make good the plastering;
to take down the chancel screen and clean, repair and refix the same in a new position;
to remove the present seating and carved woodwork in the Chancel and clean and use the same together with all old Fifteenth Century and other carved woodwork and work of Historic interest elsewhere in the church;
to disconnect the stack of heating pipes in the Chancel and refix in a new position;
to provide and fix new Choir Stalls;
to take down the organ and Platform and clean and repair and refix in a new position, removing such of the old seats as may be necessary;
to remove the Pulpit and Prayer Desk and the old Pews adjoining and provide new Pulpit Lectern and Prayer Desk out of the old carved woodwork;
to construct and fix a new altar rail on the North side out of the old balustrade of the gallery;
to remove the nave seats and floor beneath and provide new seats and wood floor on a concrete foundation;
to take down the gallery stairs, seats and front, and the flooring up to the old balustrade and adapt the front to form a new gallery front to the Bell Ringers' stage and repair the turret stair in the tower;
to remove the gallery over the Vestry and take down and renew on a reduced scale the North Porch;
all to be carried out to plans and specifications prepared by Messrs. E.C. Mallows and Grocock of Times Buildings, Bedford, architects, at an estimated cost of £300
