    Bundle containing: i) Copy Court Roll: Manor of Kensworth, Herts. William Sellon Steward; Thomas Hall, deputy E. Fossey and W. Bigg, copyhold tenants as trustees of the will of Abraham Fossey, of - a piece or parcel of waste ground on the Manor of Kensworth bounded W by the glebe meadow, S by the road leading to Cart Charity Farm, E by Church End Road, and N by the road leading to the glebe meadow E. Fossey and W. Bigg admitted; reversion to the Vicar and Churchwardens. 20 May 1869 ii) Letters (3) from the Ecclesiastical Commission [H.de B. Porter as Deputy Steward of the Manor of Kensworth] to the Rev. W.B.S. Litle, informing his that the trustees were deceased, 1909; Court meeting held to discuss the identity of the land in question and to settle the matter, 1914. 1909 - 1914 iii) Correspondence between Ralph Bond, solicitor, and the Rev. I. R. Young, giving the above details and pointing out that the property ceased to be copyhold on 1 January 1926, becoming the property of the Vicar and Churchwardens. It was suggested that the present Vicar and Churchwardens should extinguish the manorial incidents either by a compensation agreement or by a receipt from the Church Commissioners' treasurers. Includes plan. 1940 - 1945 iv) Deed relating to compensation for manorial incidents: 1) Ecclesiastical Commissioners, as Lords of the Manor of Kensworth 2) The Rev. Ivan Richard Young, Vicar of Kensworth 3) Horace Tomlin, farmer, and Winifred Young, Churchwardens of Kensworth Reciting that 2) and 3) are owners of the premises described in the schedule which were formerly copyhold but now enfranchised NOW It is agreed that manorial incidents formerly affecting the land and the rights of the Lord in or to any mines of minerals are extinguished and that all fees etc. have been discharged 1) grant and release to 2) and 3) all the mines, minerals and substances and rights of the land except for coal and coal mines that have become vested in the Coal Commission under the provisions of the Coal Act 1938, to hold the same in fee simple 1) acknowledges the rights of 2) and 3) to the production of the Court rolls of the manor Sealed by 1) Signatures: 2 and 3) 30 May 1946 SITE PLAN attached v) Schedule of documents relating to a piece of land at Kensworth formerly copyhold belonging to the Vicar and Churchwardens - lists documents 1863-1946 including the will of Abraham Fossey 1863, and items i) and iv) above n.d.
