- Scope and ContentReads- Will enquire at Lord Shelborn's office for baillable warrant. Lewis is a carpenter that lives in Theobald's Row, and used to be employed by the Corporation to repair their houses, & is concerned in building sev. new houses on the Bedford Estate, & Mr. Waller is the receiver of the rents. William Arthur is a labourer that was employed in the Greenland dock before it was sold, but now by Wills (Wells?). I used all the arguments I could to prevail upon him to vote for Mr. Vernon & Sir Thomas. I have since wrote to Ben. Butcher to see what he can do with him. I sent you an account of 3 young men who have not taken up their freedom; today another applied on same terms, viz. to vote for Mr. Vernon & Sir Thomas provided they will be at the expense of their journey & taking out their freedom. Samuel Read is a scale-beam-maker in St. Martin-le-Grand,& I find he voted against his Grace's interest at the Westminster election.
