    Regular business includes the passing of accounts of parish officers; rates and rating; election of officers; salaries of parish clerk, sexton and ringers etc; Local Government business; Endowed Charities; Subscription charities. Includes Local Government business only to 1894 when Parish Council was established, but minutes from 1881 to 1894 include much on roads, Burial Board, lighting and watching, drainage and sanitation, and Fire Brigade etc. Minutes include Easter Vestry and Annual Parochial Church Meetings from 1920. Occasional business [abstracted only to 1910] includes: 1882 Intended new public highway from a point on the Newton to Turvey road to Woodside House (560 yards) State of the parish fire engine. Purchase of a truck on which the engine could be carried Additional lamp on Turvey bridge 1883 Footpath along side of road from Turvey to Turvey Station 1884 Turvey schools - meeting re financial support of schools 1886 Volunteer fire brigade 1887 Custody of parish records 1889 Parish Fire engine and remuneration of helpers at fires Parish Pound - nominal rent to be charged for use of ground Cleansing of brook between Ladybridge and the river, and repair of stone arches and walls of brook 1890 Repair of various roads in the parish 1891 Trapping the drains in Turvey main street. 1893 Road to Newton near Nell's well to be widened Comments of Rev. H.H. Higgins on straightening of the road involving "entire loss of rustic beauty and interest" and that the work would "confer a mere trivial benefit". 1896 Turvey schools - minutes, and printed appeal leaflet 1899 Death of Major W.F. Higgins and proposed erection of memorial - re-erection of ancient village cross in the centre of Turvey Condition of roof of St. Mary's chapel. The sons of Sir Arthur Blomfield recommended as architects by the Archdeacon of Bedford. 1900 Designs of Mr. Ingman for the Higgins memorial, and selection of a site for the cross Addition of two bells in the tower as a memorial in lieu of the cross. Designs for cross to be kept in church safe for possible future use. 1906-9 Printed parish accounts [see also P27/5/3] 1906 Model code of rules for bellringers produced by the Central Council of Bellringers to be adopted at Turvey [this was agreed at the first Vestry meeting of the incumbency of the Rev. C.B. Hulton, himself a bellringer] Tenders obtained for rehanging the bells and recasting tenor. 1908 Removal of decayed gravestones in the Churchyard 1909 Specification by G.H. Grocock, architect, Bedford, for repairs to Turvey church, with report on the fabric by Mallows & Grocock, 15 May 1909 [original documents pinned in volume]. Note work described includes a quotation for removal of the spire and for a new flat lead roof to the tower. Repairs to be undertaken and funds raised by public appeal. Possibility of lighting the church with gas discussed. [Minutes not abstracted after 1910]
