    Regular business includes the passing of accounts of parish officers; rates and rating; election of officers; salaries of parish clerk, sexton and ringers etc; Local Government business; Endowed Charities; Subscription charities. The occasional business includes the following, but it should be noted that the minutes were kept in great detail and the notes which follow represent only a hasty digest of contents: 1842 Iron fencing round church Sale of old parish gravel pits and purchase of adjoining land 1843 No money from Church rates to be paid in future for sparrows. Effects of storm in Bedfordshire in August 1843 - contributions solicited for relief of sufferers 1844-5 Repair to church roof and floors New rate assessment 1845 Repairs to South aisle of church 1846 Rating of Turvey House, land and plantations 1847 Repairs to arch on Carlton Road - surveyors to decide on repair Misconduct among the ringers 1849 Removal of soil from the Church foundations, and erection of three new pews 1850 Repairs to churchyard wall and to tombs etc. A coal house for the use of the poor to be built by C.L. Higgins on part of the ground occupied by the public pound. 1851 Church to be insured for £2000 Sale of parish gravel pits (under 1842 Vestry minute) and other lands - proceeds to be applied to construction of sewers and drains throughout the parish. Lengthening of the arch of Lady Bridge Chandelier in the nave to be made secure 1852 Purchase of a hot air furnace from Mr. Barwell [Northampton] Provision of open gates to North and South doors of the church 1854 Accounts for building arch and culvert at Lady Bridge (cost £230 4s. 7d.) New approach to Turvey House along the South side of the Church deemed an encroachment on ground belonging to the parish. Churchyard gates 1857 Damage to the "erection over the burying place of Mr. C.L. Higgins in the Church yard of the parish" - £25 reward offered for information leading to the conviction of culprit Wire to be bought for protection of windows in the Chancel Exchange of land between the parish and T.C. Higgins Esq., re site of Pound and Coal House - Higgins to build a new coal house on the new ground 1858 Maintenance of parish fire engine Vestry minutes written by Charles Longuet Higgins Letters from Rev. W.B. Russell to Vestry re church services and the need for a curate - application refused by Vestry Encroachment by Mr. Battams of Carlton on the Turvey to Carlton road 1859-61 Damage to the church tower in a thunder storm. Insurance payments applied to pay assistants at the fire etc., and G.G. Scott [architect] paid for his plan for an addition to the tower. Balance to church funds.
