- Scope and ContentCook’s Close of 3 roods, 36 perches in Stotfold, being part of Bury Farm, purchased by Isaac Hindley from Matthew Denton and now in occupation of William Plyer junior bounded: to N by road reading from Up End to the mill near the said Bury Farm; to S by a close belonging to William Dilley; to E on a ditch or piece of ground on which 4 almshouses are to be erected by H.O.Roe Upon trust that H.O.Roe during his life, thereafter the vicar and churchwardens of Stotfold, shall nominate 4 poor widows belonging to Stotfold who are upwards of 50 years and “who had and should most constantly attend divine service in the said parish church” to live in and occupy one room upon the ground floor and one room above at each end of the almshouses; and also to nominate 2 poor men and their wives (qualifications as before) to occupy the four middle rooms of the almshouses; or alternatively poor widows as shall be thought more proper and convenient. When any widows or married couples die, or for any just cause, they shall be put out and removed
